My dad did good this year. For my mom's birthday in December, he got her a beautiful western necklace with turquoise beading and a cross covered in golden beige crystals. It is big and chunky but looks really stylish on. My mom wore it to the gathering at my grandparent's on Christmas day, with a simple black lace top. You might think a necklace like this would cost at least $100.00 Nope! I found some similar necklaces for very reasonable prices.
Fellow blogger and jewelry designer Heart of a Cowgirl has a gorgeous chunky turquoise and cross necklace for $74.95. It's on her Etsy site which can be found here.
The designer sent me this photo of herself modeling the necklace, with her horse Piper! I think she made the cool leather cuff she is wearing, too!
The next one was featured on a site called Bit N Spur Western Store. Their necklace comes with matching earrings and is $39.95.
If you want to cut down on the sparkle and go for a simpler look and spend a little less, I spotted a simple single strand turquoise and silver look cross necklace on westerncowgirl.com for $24.95!
After all exploring all of these great options, I realized this is something I do not yet have in my own western jewelry collection. I'm thinking I should order myself a chunky cross necklace! I'm imagining how great it will look with tank tops and jeans and boots this summer. But I wonder if I wait a few months, if mom might be willing to just loan me hers for a bit.....wink wink!
{Disclaimer} I, Pony Girl, do not represent these companies or their products in any way and therefore can not speak to their quality or customer service. I, Pony Girl, DO claim that I am a bargain-hunting cowgirl stylista/window and catalog shopper at heart and am pretty good at searching for cool and interesting things that I will covet and maybe purchase. But mostly covet. You hear that, mom?
ooooh how pretty! I must admit this is a style that didn't appeal to me when I first saw them being worn. But as I see them more and more it is starting to grow on me. I dont think I could go with a thick chunky look though, I'd likely stick with one of the simpler not so 'out there' styles.
ReplyDeleteWork it girl! Parents love the subtle hint you know. BTW if you ever have a jewelry idea and just can't find what you're looking for let me know. I make jewelry for personal entertainment. Not the super fancy stuff, I have a gf that does all my platinum and gold stuff. but I do the wire wrap, crystals, and semi precious stone/beads stuff. Like all of those necklaces you have up, I can do those.
ReplyDeleteI just bought a pair of earrings from Heart of a Cowgirl and I love them. Not only are the earrings delightful, but the packaging was special, too - she included a little something extra that every cowgirl can never have enough of - a Heart of a Cowgirl tube of chapstick!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous. My favorite is the Bit N Spur Western one.
ReplyDeleteVery cool stuff. I rarely wear necklaces, though, especially chunky. Makes me feel like I'm choking. (I know, I'm weird).
ReplyDeleteBut if I had to choose one, I'd pick the simple one at the bottom.
Living in Navajo and Pueblo Indian Country, I think I'd prefer real turquoise, though, and that's where the jewelery gets pricey.
Hey I like your siggy at the bottom. I'm glad I was able to help you figure it out. Feel free to e-mail anytime. I always enjoy hearing from you, my pony friend :)
