The Rogue Eyelash

See that curly, twangy, wacky eyelash on the top eyelid?

When it grows long enough, it can curl back into My Boy's eye.

I really think this causes him to be bothered.

A year ago he had some irritation and head shaking symptoms while wearing a fly mask (which diminished within half a day of the mask being removed.)

I think the fly mask was pushing on this rogue eyelash, poking his eye.

Strange theory, but possibly true?

I noticed this crazy eyelash last summer and now keep it trimmed for him.

What else are mommies for?

  1. What a good mommy you are!!! What a strange eyelash to keep growing like that? Beautiful shot of his eye, I love horse eyes.
What a cute baby he was!!! And he grew into a very handsome boy.......sigh, I LOVE Appaloosa's!!!

  2. Mommies are for wiping dirty horsey noses. I hate when I can see sand and stuff in their nostrils. And I'd rather wipe it out than have one of them blow it out all over me.

    We're following now, sniff-sniff, hope that's okay!

  4. What a neat picture! I have been trying to get one like that of my girl but she won't hold still long enough. Whenever she sees the camera she puts her nose in it. Great for nostril shots, not so great for eye shots!

  8. That is a great picture! Did you do the editing? Do you have a program? I want to learn how to do that. Looks like the eye only in in color.

  9. You are good. I hardly keep my own eyelashes in control, much less my babies.

  10. I have an unruly eyelash like that, lol.

Seriously, wow, who would think to check that closely if your horse suddenly had a head shaking problem?

    What a beautiful picture.

  11. {Hi Back at the Ranch}~ I don't have Photoshop, I edit all of my photos in Picasa 3, a photo program you can download for free, I think it's from Google. Under the "effects" section of their editing program, there is something called "Focal Black & White" which makes your photo black and white, except for a small area which you determine by dragging around the cursor. It worked really well for this photo, I thought, since the eye really was the focal point and it didn't stand out as strongly in color.

  12. Love the photo! I've been lurking for a bit but thought I would jump into the fray. I'm (ahem) middle-aged but refuse to grow up, so I started riding from scratch 2 1/2 years ago.

  16. I love that picture! And your signature at the bottom. I have one of those pesky eye lashes on MY eye! every time I pull it, it grows back pointing downward into my eyeball yet again! I can sympathize with your boy!

  17. Well at least not all his eyelashes are rogue like that. Can you imagine the work that Mommy Appy would have to do then? gah!

Lovely eye photo. What color are his expressive eyes? Gold? brown?
