T.G.I.F!

Last weekend while snapping photos around the farm, I came across this white lilac bush. It was beautiful. I asked if I could snap off a few sprigs to take home, because they smelled so wonderful! I put them in a vase. Then, they looked so pretty I took their picture! Of course.

Unfortunately, they did not last very long. But for a few days, I got to enjoy their sweet, springy fragrance.

I did not realize that I sounded so vague and depressed in my email yesterday. Thank you all, from my heart, for your kind words and emails. I have been on a bit of an emotional roller coaster since Sunday, but I am hanging in there! I can't discuss one of the things stressing me out because my blog is public. I may know more soon, and will share details as soon as I know what is going on. However, please know that mine and my family's health is all good, it is nothing serious like that.

Several little things, which might be manageable on their own, have just all landed at once with an incredible sense of bad timing. One of them being that after a 7-day aggressive course of Xxterra, my horse's sarcoid is big, oozing, bloody, and painful to him. It's everything it hasn't been under earlier courses of treatment yet I was told that it would be, so I am hopeful this time it's doing something- like going away. Forever. I talked to the vet and she said sometimes you can chase these things around in circles. For now, it will rest and heal for a week or so, and then she said if it does not appear to be better, she will have to come out and biopsy it and we'll have to try another approach in treatment.

Here is a picture of my handsome boy.....I will spare you the sarcoid in all of it's recent glory on my new Nikon, it is probably more gore than you care to see!

The weekend is almost here, I hope you all have great plans!

  1. Let's hope it making its grand exit this time! I love that picture of your boy, and the lilacs are wonderful. I wonder if they're still in bloom when I go to Sweden next week? Warm greetings from Africa and take you time over there!! Glad to hear that you and your family is well!

  2. I am so feeling for your boy, this week hasn't been a good one for him. I really think the Xxterra is working like it should, this time! I hope!

  3. try essential oils. frankincense and lavander from young living in utah. i do not use any other company except them. no fillers, no nonsense marketing. i have used them on my horses for a variety of reasons and on myself for over 10 years now successfully. do not use on cats. i have a personal desk reference that looks like a textbook that tells me how to use and which oil to use for which illness. awesome stuff, cannot recommend young living oils enough.

  6. HI Pony Girl! I hope that whatever is weighing you down isn't too much of a torment, or goes on for much longer. It is getting to be summertime and that is a time for frolicking in the sun! You sure know how to plant a cryptic seed though! Please let us know when good things start to happen. LIKE THAT SARCOID vanishing into thin air! I don't know much about Xxterra. I do like Kritter Keeper's suggestion about essential oils though. To keep yourself and your boy calm, maybe you can also just spritz some lavender water around your faces! Aaah, that might help you both feel better. Did you say the vet has cut the sarcoid out? Oh I hope so. Sarcaoids are like ticks and fleas and acne: very very undesireable! Lilly and I are thinking of you! (well, ok, maybe Lilly isn't. But I am!)

  7. I'm relieved to hear that everyone's health is ok. I thought they were but still. Poor spotted pill. I hate that that thing is back. Maybe this time it'll be gone forever.

  8. Oh I didn't know you got a Nikon, what one?

Poor boy. Give him lots of extra carrots!

I know a lot of horses with sarcoids. Some are totally harmless and the vets leave them as just a blemish. Hopefully that will be your boys case.

  9. Hope my boy gets well soon and it's nothing too serious. Such a lucky boy to have a dedicated mommie. Lilacs smell divine ~ I've never seen white lilacs. I have not mentioned it, but I like all the picutres you have been taking wtih your new camera. If you still visit your parents in June, I may visit as well so I'd love to see your new camera. Good luck with your other sudden dilema ...just a little detour in life!

  10. I am sending you some strength to get on with what is going on with you and your family (including the Boy). It worrys me that he is still having such trouble and the Xxterra is not doing what is should have in the past. I know that Paint Girl will keep a close eye on him when you are not there. Keep the faith and try to relax....that is why I haven't had many new posts lately too busy to do it and my brain is fried!

  11. I'm thinking good thoughts for you Pony Girl. I know exactly how it feels to have tings just pile on you mentally. If you've ever read my blog I'm not very shy in sharing those things hahaha. I hope whatever it is will straighten out. I admire you so much in your independence, your love of horses and the fact that you don't let men get to you, or atleast you don't portray that. My Boy I'm sure will be fine and it's just one of those bumps in the road of horse ownership that you will laugh back on in a few years time. Hang in there girl!

  12. Gorgeous photos--flowers are good for the soul. You got some great angles against the mirror.

Hope the sarcoid FINALLY goes away. It's tough dealing with big question marks.

    Have a wonderful weekend!!

  13. Oh, man! Hope that sarcoid packs up and heads outta town for good. I know what you mean about the little things. The little things piled on top of a bigger thing can really make for a lot of stress. Keep your head up though and know that this too shall pass. Funny how life is...things can change in a split second. Sometimes I'm scared of this when things are going too well...it can't last forever right? But then I remind myself that that's life & I can't expend too much of my energy stressing about it. Sometimes there are just things that come up that aren't easy to deal with, but know that you have a lot of people pullin' for ya!

  14. Oh my goodness girl! I can't believe I have missed so much!! I missed a giveaway, a guest post, awesome pictures, a mystery rider, and you house sitting!! Summer time is so busy and crazy!

I am so sorry things are difficult for you right now. I have always said that bad things come in threes. I am also sorry Your Boy's sarcoid is back and worse. I do hope that this time it gets better.

Keep your head up and I hope things start looking up for you! I hope you get to spend some time out with Your Spotted Pill. Horse time always tends to soothe the soul!

  16. Pony girl- hey there, I have been such a bad blogger but I am back. :)

I wanted to say first of all your boy looks SO great in that pic, he is the picture of health. I am sorry to hear the bump won't go away- the lady I board with has been doing reiki and Zippy's bumps are so far gone that last night I washed him and forgot to check them because I forgot they were there, they are so flat.

I've never really dealt with reiki or any of the alternative healing disciplines but dang- his old owner had tried MTG, herbs, picking them off, the vet checked them, you name it and we'd tried it and now reiki (energy healing) has made them exit. hmmmmm.... wish you lived close so we could get pony boy to my barn to see what it would do.

Take care, we're thinking of ya!

  17. Lovely picture of your boy! Hope the sarcoid is vanquished - it not there are other treatments to try, if need by. Sending good thoughts your way!

  18. Pony Girl,
There are some nonchemical treatments that may work for My Boy's sarcoid. You might want to contact Shelly Richards at sunnyacres@sunnyacresranch.com to see what would help, she has a wealth of knowledge, training and experience dealing with different issues.. It would not be as caustic on his skin.
I know I am one more person telling their opinion.

  19. I certainly hope My Boy gets on the mend. I understand about how many little things can be overwhelming. When it rains it pours, as they say. Keep your spirits up.

  20. {Cactus Jack}~ Thanks for the advice, I will certainly pop her an email. I do think I read that the Xxterra is completely natural, it's derived from blood root (a plant?) Sure doesn't seem like it is from what it does to abnormal flesh, though!

  31. I love your Lilac picture...I have white ones too! The smell reminds me of the house I grew up in. We had them all along our bedroom windows, so I had to plant both white and lavenders! Aren't they fun? You really take perfect pictures...I bet you could even make me look good...We'll work on that. Hee! Hee!
