TO WEAR PINK?
Did you know there is a campaign out there for cowboys (and cowgirls) to wear pink in support of breast cancer research? My first introduction to the campaign was two years ago in California, I bought a camouflage baseball cap with the "Wrangler Tough Enough to Wear Pink" logo on it.
My friend who follows professional bull riding said that if the riders wear pink and win, they get extra winnings. In fact, if you're going to be near Stonewall, Louisiana tomorrow, June 14th, there is a Ride for the Cure Bullriding goin' on around noon!
A cowboy in a nice shade of pink, with a good tan, and crisp jeans and boots....is very stylin' and hip. Goodness, even Roy Rogers wore pink!
Um, well, this might have gone a little too far. This would be impossible to pull off on my sorrel boy, but Paint Girl's white mare Brandy might be doable....
It looks like there is at least one tough enough to wear pink cowboy in this group for everybody.....

Too cool Pony Girl. I haven't heard of this before. I think it takes a real MAN to wear pink proudly, especially in support of this special cause. Have a great weekend with your BOY. I hope he's healed up enough to ride this weekend. Happy Pink Day too!
ReplyDeleteHmmm.... I call dibs on the "tough enough" cowboy on the far right. Hello!
ReplyDeleteI love watching the NFR and seeing the cowboys wear the pink shirts! It is for a very good cause, and I know most guys aren't very comfortable in pink, but I love how they will do this to support it!
ReplyDeleteUh, Brandy painted pink? I mean, my favorite color is pink, but I don't think she'd appreciate me painting her pink!
I think that rodeo's that host a Tough Enough day are awesome! It's pretty common, the NFR even has a day for it.
ReplyDeleteI was really disappointed one year when a certain barrel racer wore a black shirt with pink piping. Everyone else (cowboys and cowgirls) stepped up and wore a full on pink shirt. A lot of riders even put pink boots and/or pads on their horses!
That picture of the horse is HILARIOUS!!! We have been long participators of "Tough Enough to Wear Pink"!!!!
ReplyDeleteWe did a clinic and gave away a bunch of hot pink nurtural bridles a little wile back. It was at the unveiling of the very first pink john deer tractor! Imagine that now the things are popping up all over the place.
ReplyDeleteMy old mare naigen I could have dyed pink easily. Everything she had was pink. I hated pink but every little girl that rode her loved it and plus she looked so darn cute! The other lady that leased her then I decided to let her half own Naigen battled and won her fight with breast cancer so it was so cute to see her ride my little mare all in pink.
I am a BC survivor for 7 years now. I am thinking of getting that same cap from Wrangler. The rodeo around here has Pink girls and Sky wants to be one so bad when she gets older.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and fun Pink Saturday blog entry! It's a little gloomy outside today (hope the sun comes out) but your blog and a little cup of tea are giving me a little sun!
ReplyDeleteHappy Pink Saturday. Sending you good wishes from the tip of Michigan for a special weekend filled with sun, surrounded by those you l♥ve.
very cool! Love that Pink Pony!!!
ReplyDeleteOh my! I am tough enough to wear pink, and I love the pink horse! :) Happy Pink Saturday!

Love it - men should be able and willing to wear pink! Happy Pink Saturday!
ReplyDeleteLove the pictures. If coloring a pony pink draws attention to this very worth cause (and it was no harm to the horse)...I Bravo!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!

ReplyDeleteI could only imago e paint girl's face, if she came home to a pink Brandy. LOL But I have heard of that before. I think it's a wonderful cause. My husband's mother passed away from breast cancer. It's good to see cowboys and cowgirls out there riding for the cause. Plus those cowboys don't look half bad in pink! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Pink Satur-unday. I love your photos, how perfect for PS. It made me laugh - is that poor horse really pink? My hubby said it's photoshop, I hope so. I know, I think too much - but that dye can't be good for him?! LOL.
ReplyDeleteMr. MaidenShade wears pink and looks adorable in it!
Got a minute? Pour a cuppa, pull up a comfy chair and please stop by - I love company.

My son has pointed this out to me before, because he was wondering why all of the cowboys were wearing pink. If they do it, then so can he, right?? Wrong!!! LOL!!!!
ReplyDeleteGo Pink!!!!
OMG! That is so awesome, I never thought pink horses would bring me such joy, since I'm not really a lover of the color pink....ut being a cancer survivor....kudos to such beautiful awareness with a pink pony!
ReplyDeleteI love that everyone is really starting get the Power of Pink! I hope it keeps up! I tell you I think that a guy in Pink makes a statement.

ReplyDeleteBreast cancer hits one out of eight woman in there lifetime. Way too many woman. I was diagnosed at 41! go get your mammograms!
{AHCM}~ I called dibs on him too, LOL! ;)
ReplyDelete{Maidenshade}~ I have no idea if was Photoshop, but I think it wasn't. They make all kinds of dye and glitter for horses nowadays, I see 4-H girls painting and coloring their horses like zebras and the like. So I have a feeling that horse was really dyed pink! ;)
