Mama, Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up

To Be Cowboys.......

(or cowgirls.)

{This must be where it all started for these young pony girls! Do they look familiar?}

{Horseman Ken McNabb's sons.}

{Two mini cowpokes on an Appaloosa.....now how could I pass this one up?}

Of course, I don't believe this famous song line for one minute. I say the more cowboys and cowgirls growin' up out there, the better!

Despite everything going on in the world right now.......and in our own little lives in our own little corners, I hope you are having a blessed weekend!

  1. I agree with you! Always let them grow up to be cowboys and cowgirls! Why not? We made it just fine! I actually believe it makes a world of difference, who knows where we would be if we never had horses in our lives!

  2. Oh, I forgot to say, I don't remember riding that pony, but I remember the picture! I guess I was way too little!
    I also noticed the Appaloosa's in here! I think it is so funny how I was an Appy girl when I was young and now you are an Appy girl today!

  4. That third picture reminds me of that fast food commercial. I've been walking around all week singing, "Yippee Yiy Yay, Mini Sirloin Burgers..."

  5. Great post! I especially like the two little girls on the fair ponys!!! It is wonderful to see how kids bond with horses. Little pixie princess is only 1 1/2 and when we put her on Dusty she loved it. She immediately bent her head down to smell him! It was so sweet. I bury my nose in his neck all the time to get his horsey scent.

  6. My mama never dreamed, but now that I'm all grown up and living my dreams, she's saying, "Well, of course!"

    Kids and horses ... the best way to learn all of life's lessons: patience, consideration, dependability, and love.

  14. The Desert Rose says...
    Yup...I have a little cowboy wanna be on my hands now! Toby had his 2nd trail ride and LOVED it this time. He chattered the whole time about seeing the birds, the chipmonks, the bunny's (didn't get to see any bunny's) it was too hot for them that day. And then when he saw a picture of his friend Tristan on a little pony riding with the Bossman...he became so excited and said he WANTED his own horsey to ride too! When Toby is 6...I am giving Jesse to the grandkids!!!

  15. Cute Pictures! I do think that kids who grow up with "cowboy" responsibilities have really strong family ties. They all work together and feed animals together. Raise animals or crops together. I just think Mommas don't want their babies to grow up to be bull riders. At least I don't want any of my kids to be.

  21. "They'll never stay home and they're always alone, even with someone they love"

    Funny how a song that warns of the lonesome lifestyle of a true cowboy has become an anthem for them.:)

    "Make 'em be doctors and lawyers and stuff"

    Wow...how our culture has changed. Being a lawyer used to be considered a respectable job-LOL. Sorry Paige-I know there are good ones out there too.;)

    Loved the pictures PG. Seeing kids on ponies and horses just makes me melt. That's what it's all about!

  27. I wish I could have become a cowgirl when I was little. Had to wait until I was much older....and then...well you know what happened. Hopefully I still get to fulfill that dream again one day soon.

    Those pictures were darling! I smiled all the way through.
