Well. I went and did it. I adopted a wild Mustang. Here she is.
Just kidding! Anyway, this is just Paint Girl's mare, Fritzy. Know something kind of funny? Fifteen minutes before I took these pictures, she had been, groomed, longed, and totally clean. The minute she was back in her pasture, she dirtied herself up.
We planned to do our first trail ride of the season on Sunday, so on Saturday, Paint Girl and I decided to longe the "kinks" out of the horses. Fritzy was the only one that really needed it, since she hadn't been worked much all winter.
The neighbors were riding their horses in their pasture, which is separated by a line of trees behind the arena. Our horses spotted them and went on high alert. Paint Girl was longing Fritzy, who flagged her tail and got all prancy.
My Boy got all studly and raised his neck and head high.
My Boy and I hung out and nibbled on arena weeds while we waited for Fritzy to be done. Er, at least he nibbled on arena weeds, I ate a protein bar.
Wait, I'm not next, am I?
Then my spotted stinker got worked, too. His newly shod tender hooves are back to normal. I still think his toes are a bit short.
Bad news, that blasted sarcoid has scabbed up again! Which means it was oozing from the Xxterra we put on it last weekend. I'm starting to get frustrated. I applied Xxterra again on top of the scab this weekend. I'm going to call and consult with the vet this week.
Oh, and these dandelions from my photography blog? I think they're gone now. There has been some large, red spotted animal on the loose, devouring weeds.
Who, me?
To be continued.....

Ahh! You freaked me out for a second there! I recently stumbled across a blog page about Mustang rescue myself and it got me contemplative...but I'm sooo not the right person for that job. At least not at this point. I better just focus on my "wild Arabian". P.S. He's totally been pulling a Fritzy lately. I get him all groomed and dapper looking and he turns himself back into "pig pen". Horses. ;)
ReplyDeleteLovethe first picture of Fritzi. She really is a beauty!
ReplyDeleteHa you are so ornery!!! I saw that first line and *gasped LOL* then NO!!! You make me LOL!!! Love the pictures of Fritzy and your boy!!! They look great!! I hope you guys got to have a nice ride!!
ReplyDeleteps~ I emailed you, not sure if it went through, it kept giving me an error message but then it acted like it went. So if not let me know and I will send it again :)
So this is going to sound crazy. I DID NOT RECOGNIZE THAT THE FIRST PICTURE WAS MY HORSE! I really thought you put some wild mustang picture on here! Does my Fritzy look like a wild mustang? Probably most of the time! Once I got to the 2nd pic, than I realized what you were doing! LOL! You'd think I'd know my own horse! Has to be all that sun we had today, going straight to my brain!
ReplyDeleteFritzy is beautiful! (Even if dirtied up again!) Your boy was good to just stand there and watch her prance around.
ReplyDeleteAll of our horses just love the dandelions - flowers and leaves - I guess it's a spring tonic - now that, at last, it's finally spring.
I wouldn't be surprised if you do that again one day, and it's not a joke! Loved the pictures and with Paint Girl's post about the outing, it feels like we all got to join. :-D
ReplyDeleteHi Pony Girl! Darn that sarcoid!! The sarcoid on Bill's horse Charlie might return, the vet said, even though he cut it out. I guess they put out little fingers and like to spread around. That is so gross!! At least Charlie's sarcoid when tested was not malignant. He gets his stitches out this week! I wish that sarcoid would stop bothering your beautiful appy!!!
ReplyDeleteYes, the first thing all of our horses do is roll! That's just being a horse I guess along with the love for dandelions! Both of them look really nice. My husband's horse reminds me of Fritzy. I talked to the trainer Saturday and she's doing quite well at his place and he really likes her....says she rides smooth! Yea!
ReplyDeleteYou had me goin' there for a second! And why is it those dang horses can't stay clean for one minute.
ReplyDeleteI knew you hadn't adopted a mustang because that takes a lot of preparation. Fences have to be just so high (higher than most fences) and all of that stuff. It was fun though. I wanted to ride so badly yesterday but I had Abby plus my mare has a swollen ankle.
ReplyDelete{Colleen}~ Yes, those sarcoid fingers are a pain! Usually after the scab falls off, the skin looks normal, but in the past few months those red veins/"fingers" reappear on the normal skin and start the spread of it again. Not sure if those can be removed. I might have to have it tested although the vet thought it was benign.
ReplyDeleteToo bad about the sarcoid , he sure looks good otherwise!
ReplyDeleteHope your weekend ride turned out nice. We sure had great weather for it, didn't we???
ReplyDeleteWe returned from the desert on Friday and the weather has been so great i don't know why I ever left in the 1st place! LOL Glad you are going for a ride...the first time out is always great!!!
ReplyDeleteMy kids will get here tomorrow. I just talked to the "COWPOKE" and he was at the gate of Kings ranch to go in and get him. He must have left real early this am because it is a 7 hour drive to get there from the desert!!!
Too bad you didn't really adopt a Mustang! But you have enough to do with your boy. Sorry about the sarcoid.
ReplyDeleteI found my bracelet after I posted (whined) on your blog the other day. We were putting in the sprinkler system and it was out laying in the grass before we tilled it under. Lucky!
{Linda}~ I'm so glad you found your bracelet! I do want to adopt a Mustang someday. Being on the trails yesterday, even more so. My Appy boy is really great on the trails. But someday I'd like to cover lots of ground and go out for days, and in tougher terrain. Our trails are pretty easy. I think a Mustang would be the ideal candidate for real trail riding!
ReplyDeleteYou had me there for a minute! They always roll when they are clean. I love the picture of Fritzy prancing in the background while your boy watches.
ReplyDeletePony Girl - I'll join you on a long trail ride - only I don't have a Mustang either - only the TBs. Still, they seem to be up for it even with their long, skinny legs. They are just so interested in going far!
ReplyDeleteYou had me going too!! What is it about a bath the inspires such rolling?
ReplyDeleteHope he heals up soon...
I need to get at that myself with my girls!
ReplyDeleteDang, I wish mine would eat dandelions. They only want "the good stuff".
ReplyDeleteI think that the mustangs are beautiful! Brandy is a stinker!
ReplyDeleteSaw photos from your trail ride on Paint Girl's blog. I've never ridden across a bridge. Don't know what my horses would do. Looked like you guys had fun, despite a few set backs.
ReplyDelete{Mary}~ I had to lead my horse across that bridge once, and it was worse than being on his back! The bridge shakes and wobbles the whole time, it was awful. You don't notice it on horseback. Honestly, I don't think our horses even realize it's a bridge, LOL! I do kind of hold my breath while we cross, though!!
ReplyDeletefritzy is a mud ball like jessie. i think they both were piggies in their former lives...i read your comment about that bridge...it gives me the willies...i would not enjoy that part of the trail ride!
ReplyDeleteFritzy looks so beautiful in that photograph of her being all prissy!
ReplyDeleteSounded like your ride was a fun one and I am sorry the boy has a ozzie sore again. We are going to have to find a new vet maybe??????
You got me with that first line and the pic of a dirty Fritzy! LOL
ReplyDeleteIt was fun riding with you! What a pretty day! Sorry about the sarcoid. Blue had one years ago or some sort of crusty skin thing... Old wives' tale, I know, but someone told to put Colgate tooth paste on it - the original white paste. I did (I know, I'm gullible). It came off after one or two times. He grew in new hair -- it looked kind of cool cuz he had already faded in the summer so he had this black spot of hair about the size of a quarter. Never did come back. His didn't look near as oozy or have the fingers to it like your guy does. I'm not recommending you try it, just sharing a story. ;)
ReplyDeleteYummy! Dandies! You know....they make a good salad for us humans, too. :)
ReplyDeleteWow! Fritzy looked beautiful out there all prancy.
Sorry to hear that the sarcoid problem is back. I sure hope it gets figured out and heals soon. Poor boy. :(

Good thing there's no rum in the soil or we'd see a lot of drunk horses swaying out in pastures. hehe!
