My Boy and his mama, Cherry.
I hope that everyone out there is enjoying a special moment with their mothers today, whether via a phone call, a special brunch together, or just a reflective moment to think about a beloved mother that may no longer be with us.
Here is the mother that gave life to my mother, my Nana Billye. She is holding the first grandchild in the family- ME! No, that is not a little boy, but I looked like one back then (thanks to whomever dressed me in blue, that really helped.)
I love this picture. My dad's mother, my Nana Violet, and my mom are sitting in the back yard, looking like they are having a conversation. My mom is in the shade, wearing a cool pink bandanna on her head. I am a wandering toddler, I look like I am deep in thought and adjusting my diaper.
These lovely sisters are, from left to right, my mother Dusty Devoe, the Desert Rose, and A Cowgirl's Grace. I think this was taken late in the 70's. And they all became the best mothers!
Goodness, it's hard to tell if we are sisters or mother/daughter here. This was taken during my college days, in the early 90's. We had big hair, and lots of it.
When I was home from college in the summer, my mom and I would sunbathe in the river on hot days. The river was so low, we could just put our chairs out in the middle and soak our feet when we got too hot. Although that river ran straight out of the mountains and was glacial cold, so your feet would eventually go numb.
Mom and papa had a sporty '64 Corvette Coupe for a while back then....and here my mom is taking me for a spin to pick up cute cowboys. Well, not really, since I wasn't technically looking for a cowboy then. But we're going cruisin'..... probably just to the little market in town to get milk.
Mom, I hope you enjoyed a few pictures from memory lane. I love and adore you dearly and can't wait until we get together again!

What was it with putting us poor little girls in powder blue?!?
ReplyDeleteI'm a 70's baby too, and I had a powder blue, polyster leisure suit. Stylin then but OMG now! lol
(for the record, I have no problem with blue on little girls, you just have to be careful it isn't too boyish an outfit)
Love the trip!!! That picture of you in blue is so cute!!! And I'm loving the 90's hair!! Unfortunately I was a victim of it too!!
