My spotted pill got off lucky this weekend. He really needed a workout. He's gathering spring flab on his hiney again. My horse winters well. Goodness, maybe I ought to send him to the desert with my Aunt in the winter and let her wet some saddle blankets on him. Good 'ole Appies, at least they are easy keepers!I had big plans to ride my horse on Saturday. However, since I was on the couch all day with a migraine, My Boy got to fly solo. On Sunday, I felt better and had a work obligation most of the day, but I made it to the farm late that afternoon. After making a hay run with Paint Girl, I fed my horse and at least got in some grooming while he ate. Then it was off to finish puppy duty (Part Two tomorrow.) It was a whirlwind day, but when you waste one day in migraine mode, you have to play catch-up once your brain is out of the squeezer!
It was nice to just hang out with him. He actually seemed happy to see me- shocker!
After I curried away piles of hair, I left the pasture to snap a few photos of something I spotted outside of the pasture. Lo and behold, he quickly left his dinner, headed to the fence line, and gave me this look. Hmm....what could be up?
I'll tell you more about it ...... on Saturday!Oh, I was pleased to see the rest of the sarcoid scab had finally come off! I was beginning to wonder about that stubborn scab, which was from the second round of Xxterra I'd applied to the two "fingers" left on the sarcoid last month. It is looking good, mostly dry skin, with some hair growing in. I keep slapping sunscreen on it, hoping to prevent sunburn and further damage.
The weather doesn't look so great this week, or I'd try to get up and work my horse on Thursday. The farrier visits Saturday, and my horse is getting shoes put on the back hooves again in preparation for spring trail rides. Spring keeps teasing us....but at least we had a good week of it to dry out a lot of the mud in the pasture! As soon as that is gone for good...so is my horse's turnout halter, and we'll begin working on catching again. Just thinking about that gives me....another migraine. I kid, I kid. I'm actually looking forward to work over this hump again!

Glad you're over the migraine - that must have been very unpleasant. I love it how you really enjoy hanging out with your boy - I agree, it isn't all about riding (although that's nice too).

Sadie's rubbing off on her!" than I finally figured out you were taking pictures of your boy! BTW- I now work Wed and am off on Sat. My boss needed to switch days with me.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry you weren't feeling well!! I hope your head feels better now. I really get disappointed when I get geared up to go ride and something happens were I can't go out to the barn. I had my horse saddled for a few hours and never got to go ride. Sigh......

Oh, man I just hate losing a day to a migrane. They are the absolute worst. FYI the only thing I've gotten to "sort of" work for me is Advil Migrane. It usually helps take the edge off at least. But sometimes, there's no helping 'em, you just gotta ride it out. Your spotted pill is looking beautiful! P.S. Gave Caspian his wormer with his oats this past weekend & it worked great!! He gobbled it right up. Loved that post you did. Great tip - thanks!
ReplyDelete{JRosey}~ I've had luck with Execedrin Migraine, and also Midrin, a px migraine drug which works okay, but makes me feel kind of weird.
ReplyDeleteGlad the wormer in the oats worked for Caspian! I am going to try it again with My Boy, last time he wouldn't touch it! I'm going to find a gel, not a paste, gels seem to blend better.
Migraines really suck! I had them when I was relly young and only one bad one in the last 5 years or so. I also "loose" days with Fibromyalgia sometimes several in a row, it's a real bummer!

ReplyDeleteMy appy is also a very easy keeper, the vet says she is too fat, my farrier always asks me if she is pregnant. I didn't get to ride this weekend but both horses got ridden(worked) by an exchange student from Italy and our exchange student from Germany. I got to take pictures. I also suffer with migraines. They are no fun! I find that if i can catch it quick enough I put an ice pack behind the base of my head and a cold facecloth over my eyes and have peace and quiet for a half hour , that usually works enough so that i can function. Take care.

ReplyDeleteMigraines are the worst, you just can't do anything except wait it out...ugh! I don't get them too often anymore, but I have a prescription because when I get them I swear I am going to stroke out it is so bad!

ReplyDeleteWow! In that last photo My Boy looks so much whiter in the front. Is he whiting-out now that he's shedding's almost done? Or is this typical for him every Spring? Gosh, he's more handsome than usual! :)

{Lisa}~ Yep, My Boy "whites out" in the summer. I imagine every year he'll roan out more and more. I like how he gets more coppery in the winter (despite the long hair) I wish he'd stay that way in the summer, too! Oh well! Appys are chameleons which is kind of fun, too!
