I made it through my puppy nanny weekend! My weekend with Hurley. Yep, he kinda looks like a Sawyer, but he's a Hurley!
I've done quite a bit of dog sitting. None of the dogs I have stayed with have been under 6 months of age. Goodness, it's been a while since I've been immersed in the magic that is puppy-dom. In a nutshell, here is what I learned.
1. You've got to stand a little rain if you want to see a rainbow.
C'mon Nanny, it's just a little sprinkle!
Puppies must do their thing- whether rain, sun, wind, or thunder.....
Let's go Nanny, I got the keys!
2. What goes in, must come out.
If a puppy is chewing on a toy like this, he is most likely eating it. And digesting it. And I have evidence. Well I don't have it, let's just say I saw it.
Therefore, he was relegated to the plastic toys. Which I realize, he was also probably eating.
2. Always stop and smell the flowers.
Nanny, is this the scent of the flower....or just another puppy's piddle spot?
If it's a rock, a smashed Jack-in-the Box antennae topper, an old 7-ll cup, something mushy that you've never seen before and might just possibly be the return of "The Blob", it must go in his mouth. I thought only human toddlers had this problem?
3. Nannies are oodles of fun, but you always miss your mommy and daddy.
I have nothing more to say to this one, except that when I returned the key to his owners after work yesterday, he ran and jumped up and whined at me, like he missed me dearly, even though I'd only left him that morning. Whew!
I really enjoyed my time with Hurley the puppy. He was a good snuggler and he got me outside walking. He also reminded me of what it was to be young, innocent, and curious about life.
Except for those blob things. I'm stayin' far away from those blob things!

Hurley is so adorable! I know you have already fallen in love with him. You are such a good Nanny!
ReplyDeleteSometimes I make a little game of figuring out just what in the heck my dog ate to make such colorful..well...poop. BRIGHT orange is my personal favorite (which is the street hockey balls)... And no, I dont have a life.
ReplyDeleteThere is litte on this earth as cute as a golden puppy of any age.
Aww! It must've been hard to say good bye to him! He's such a cutie! Sounds like you had lots of fun together...he was lucky to spend time with such a good nanny!
ReplyDeleteYes, Hurley is so cute!
ReplyDeleteYou have had nanny days here before! With the crazy Bailey, who loves and adores, you more than us! Are you ready to come back again?!?
He just looks like a Hurley!!! Cute puppy! do you have mose jobs coming up???
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that part of your weekend turned out well!! Such a cute puppy!!
ReplyDeleteYour whole family has dogs on the brain today! I hope you don't mind me being a copycat -- I liked your newest widget and added it to my blog as well.
ReplyDeletelol! I bet you could use a long relaxing weekend just to get over the excitement and lack of sleep and all that exercise from your Nanny job. It's a lot like having a kid, eh? hehe!
ReplyDeleteHurley sure is a cutie...and big for a puppy!

I think he grew just in the short blog time of Part 1! LOL! Your photos are great and he looks like he enjoyed being your subject too! Those are the largest keys I've ever seen! Cute post! Thanks for stopping in and the nice comments today! Lu
ReplyDeleteCuuuute puppy. Makes me want one. :)
ReplyDeleteAaaw.........Cute!
ReplyDeleteLOL. Hurley has such a sweet face.
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet dog!! If I didn't have goats, I would get a couple of dogs.....
ReplyDeletesweet boy , so have you gotten the bug to get your own yet?
ReplyDelete{Fern Valley}~ Yes, I would love to have one, but not unless I had property. It's a big responsibility! For now, it's kind of fun to "borrow" someone else's, then return it when I am done! ;)
ReplyDeleteToo Cute!! I want him! Love the pics.
ReplyDeleteHe's adorable!! To meet a golden is to love a golden in my opinion. They are truly dogs meant for cuddling and playing and loving. Never a mean bone in their furry bodies. Love them...
ReplyDelete{C-ing Spots}~ I agree. I have only known two Goldens (Hurley and his predecessor) but I was very impressed with this breed. These two (from different breeders) were/are mellow, smart, loving, and happy, happy, joyful dogs. If I were to get a dog, it would be a very tough choice between a Golden, a Beagle, a Basset, or a labrador. Maybe I'd need one of each? ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable "Hurley"!
ReplyDeleteWe've had 3 Goldens and each of your photos reminded me of our great times with them ... even the puppy years.
We got each one from GR rescue and everyday they tell us thank you with their beautiful eyes. I hope to always have Goldens in my life.
How 'bout an apartment dog for you? You could adopt one from the local ASPCA. Aw come on. You can do it!
ReplyDeleteBTW my daughter wants a Golden so bad she can taste it! To think she has had 3 boxers in her life and she thinks like that. I think she is planning a coup.
Golden puppies...Black Lab puppies...Thoroughbred "puppies"...they are all so wonderful!
ReplyDeleteaww it looks like you had a full weekend of adventure! He is just so cute!
ReplyDeleteThat rope's had a hard life I see, LOL! Hurley is the most adorable name, especially for a puppy with a face like his. What a good puppy nanny!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it amazing when we can borrow other people's animals (and kids!) only to hand them back when we want to eat, sleep and watch television again? :-) I can definitively see you with a Hurley of your own one day!
ReplyDeleteBe still my heart! I love Hurley. I bet his owners were happy to get home to him.
ReplyDeleteVery cute post. :)
