My Blogging Space

So I am going to start a tag. It's a photo tag. If you are reading this post and want to participate, consider yourself tagged- you're it! But please let us know in the comments if you are participating so that we can pop on over to your place and see your space.

I thought it would be interesting to see where people spend their time blogging. I am sure it is different for everyone. I imagine for some people this space is very personal. For others, inspirational. For yet others, a space they share with the teens and the husband and everyone in between. Since I spend about 20 out of 24 hours at my blogging space, I actually have a bed next to my computer so that I can just get some sleep in between posts. Just kidding! Although it seems that way sometimes. Even though I have a laptop, I do not have a wireless router yet so it has to be connected to the cable. Or I would be blogging from my bed!

I do not even have a computer desk right now. Let me correct that. I actually have one, but my old PC is inhabiting it. It needs to go away. Some friends gave it to me a couple of years ago, when I had, go ahead and gasp- dial up Internet. But I was so excited to have Internet at home, let me tell you.

Then the computer started crashing on a daily basis, then every half hour, then every 5 minutes....and Pony Girl experienced some pretty major frustration. Therefore, I got a laptop, but never moved the PC off of the desk because I still had photos and documents I wanted to try to download off of it at some point. Oh, and the friends do not want it back, so now I have to figure out a way to remove of the beast. And let me tell you, it's a beast. It looks like one of the original Bill Gates computer prototypes.

So now I use my dining table as my computer station. Since I'm on my computer all of the time and don't eat (joking again) this works well. I do not have an actual designated dining room in my apartment, so this table is in between my front door and my living room, and in front of a huge picture window with a great view outside.

In my space you'll also see a lamp, because there is bad lighting here at night. Some great birch candle holders and leaf embossed candles, which I got as a Christmas gift last year and have yet to light. My favorite yellow mug with the painted leather lacing on the top. An orchid which I just got as an end of the year gift from one of the students in my class. I have always wanted an orchid! And of course, my station would not be complete without bottle caps, my candy snack of choice. What this picture does not show is the huge pile to the left of the computer. My pile of mail, pictures, horse magazines and catalogs, sunglasses, keys, pens, notes, and notes to remind me of the notes.

I do not even have an ergonomically correct office chair. What I use is one of the wooden dining chairs with a pillow on it. Oh my aching back. So if you wish, show us your space. When we are writing and telling each other our horse and family stories, where are you? Boy, wouldn't it be cool if we could actually do it from the horses back? Okay, some techno-pants is probably out there posting from their smart phone right now!

P.S. I'm thinking I really must do something about that ugly blue mouse pad!

  2. I will share mine when I get a chance to clean off the desk. Little cowpokes have taken over with post-it notes. They have to write everything down or they forget passwords, login names etc.
Thanks for stopping and leaving me a comment.

  4. Good one, Pony Girl. I'll do it too.
We all should show our desktop pictures so we can count how many of us have our horse pictures up there.

  5. What a great idea! I actually have a couple of coffee table books that include pictures of the desks of famous writers! I'll create a post, but I guarantee that my desk won't be as tidy as yours.

  6. Neat idea!

I will take a pic of my desk, complete with clutter and post it to my blog...I'll let you know when it's officially up.

On another note, you said you liked orchids, I sell orchid photographs on Etsy. You should stop by and check 'em out sometime :o) There's a link on the sidebar of my blog.

Oddly enough, I took a photo of my blogging space a few days ago...spooky. I'll do my best to post it tomorrow.

  10. Great idea, I'll do it tomorrow or the next day. Just got back from arthroscopic surgery on my knee a few hours ago and think I will feel more like it tomorrow. I'll hobble into the other room to get my camera. Loved your desk, very neat and organized, not the case here, I'll clean it up for the pics.

  12. Great idea! I just posted mine...

  14. What a great idea! I am WAY to embarrassed to share my blogging space with anyone! Did I mention that I just finished nine months of school?? My desk is littered with papers, textbooks, my trusty thesaurus, coloring books, my kids computer games, food, crumbs...you get the picture! I do need to organize it over the summer to prepare myself for fall semester, so maybe at a later date, I will post it. I am not as brave as some of you other bloggers!

  15. Mine is too cluttered--better not participate in this one. I'm not good on public humiliation. I liked seeing yours, though.

Oh, and I hear you about how much time it takes to blog. I will spend over an hour on a post sometimes and then go back and read it and then think, "that's it?" crazy.

  16. I think there is a shot of it in my non-horsey blog, in a corner of my living room facing the tv, surrounded by boxes of sports equipment and unfiled paperwork. I wont post it in my horsey blog as they would just die from embarrasment at how messy I am.

  17. Your bloggin space is lovely. Looks like a peaceful place to sit and blog and surf the web.

I'm kind of embarassed about posting my space. It's just a functional space, not as beautiful as yours.
I figure since I am just staring at the computer I don't bother with decorations or prettying it up.

But I'll try to post something with my blog space just for you. hehe

  18. Ok. I'm coming out of the closet. I've been lurking and reading many of the cowgirl/ranch/horse blogs -- thanks to my sister, Linda, at The 7MSN. And I loved, your idea of posting a photo of one's blog "space."

Thanks for the great suggestion - from someone with totally opposite interests!

  19. I'm in! What fun! It's a bit more "catty" than horse-y at the moment, but it's hard for Sunny to fit on the desk, and Mabel's sort of possessive about the mouse...

  29. I love this idea and I'm in. I have my blog space on my page. Although I don't know that it qualifies as a "space". My family calls it my "nest". You'll see what I mean when you look at it. My daughter asked me the other day why we still have dial up internet and I told her it is because our horses "eat" all our money. Ha Ha. She just wanted faster internet so that she can play horse games on-line. I told her she could have pretend horses or real horses. Fortunately she chose wisely, the phone line internet stays and so do the horses. :-)
