Another Vacation

Mommy's Silver Spurs

I'm going to extend my blogging vacation a little longer. After being on a "blog makeover vacation" last week, and then a forced one due to technical difficulties last weekend, I realized that I have allowed blogging to take up too much of my free time. As many of you might have experienced, it can really consume your life. Mostly in good ways, don't get me wrong. Becoming a blogger has been a blessing to me these past 370 posts, for so many reasons. But I've had a bit of an epiphany-I have other projects and activities and interests that are calling for more attention right now. I considered taking a cold-turkey blogging break for a while, but I am not sure I can do that. I want to keep blogging in my life, but it has to be a healthy balance. So, I promise to stop in with a photo or update or a story now and then, but I won't be posting as frequently, at least for the rest of the summer. Of course, I will still be stopping by and reading and commenting on your blogs, because you all inspire me in so many ways! Thank you for all of your support and for letting me be honest with you all. I would never just stop posting and fade away into the wild waves of the web, leaving you to wonder "what ever happened to that Pony Girl blogger?" I hope you will still stop by and visit me!

  1. Life calls, have fun and hope you get some good saddle time. When you see your sister Paint girl , give her a hug for me would you? And wish her a happy birthday, thanks. Looking forward to posts when they come!

  2. Vacations are a good thing. We will miss your beautiful photos and captivating stories though... But, that will make the times you do post even more enjoyable :-)

I hope you find your balance soon.

  3. Completely understand. It is time consuming. If I start up some of my other writing, I'll be cutting back posts also. I wish you luck with your other pursuits, and am looking forward to hearing about them when you get a chance.

  5. Maybe this means I'll see you out at the tree farm? I have a white trailer with purple flames on it--easy to find. My helmet is purple with purple flames.

Either way, I'm easy to find. Come say "hey" if you see me!

  11. Enjoy your time away from the computer! We'll miss you, but we're patient... I find it hard to be in front of the computer doing stuff in the summer. There is more dark time (wah!) for that in the fall and winter.

  12. I've had to do that, too. I love your blog and will definitely stop by to keep in touch. Thanks for your interesting and entertaining writings and photos. :)

I didn't get to comment about your new design/layout. It is SO perfect. I love the earthy tones combined with the blues. And, the photos at the top are wonderful.
Have fun riding with Paint Girl and the rest of your family.

  17. It's easy to do. I know I have slowed down somewhat, even refusing to turn on my computer at night so I'm not tempted to veg away. Have fun!

  18. Blogging can become a bit of an obsession, I know! If only we could all get paid big bucks to write these horse blogs! Wouldn't that solve all the free-time troubles!! Have a great blogger vacation! I will be ready to read more about your goings-on when you return!

  23. Well you know that I understand-aboput life getting in the way. Blogging is great fun, but you really do have to have a lot of extra time to devote to it.

    AS I told your sister...have a great trip!! :)

  24. Your new blog design is very pretty. Balance is a good thing, and yes, we have to push ourselves away from the computer. And summer is a busy time to be outside and with our horses. I believe horse blogging should be an enhancement to life with horses (a way to journal and learn and share), but not take away from horse time and other priorities. It is great fun though, and you have a lovely blog. Hope you find the balance you need.

I do have a fashion question for you, if you have a moment to comment. I'm buying my stepdaughter a pair of cowgirl boots for her 19th birthday. Fashion only, not for working or riding. Are there any current trends in toe style or heel style? Or is is anything goes? Seems that the retailers offer all styles, but it will be important for her to not wear something outdated.

  26. Gosh, I have missed so much, a new blog design and two vacations and some awesome pictures of you riding ENGLISH!! AHHHHH!! How awesome is that!!! I think you look awesome English and girl, those heels look great!! Want to hear something funny? Well, I have this image in my head of what a "pretty" English rider looks like, and I am so not that right now. So, I am on a diet so I can look pretty up on my horse!! A huge dork right?? LOL!! But you look great up there all English!! Hope you have fun on your trip!!

Oh and I thought of you a lot while on my trip. There was this one super cute and super sweet Wrangler named Mike, who wants to find the perfect "cow" girl. He wants someone who likes to ride and go on trail rides and wouldn't mind going to rodeos to watch him rode.....I thought of you......did I mention he was cute and single??

  30. makeover! I need to hire you to do mine! I am back and will be hopefully posting about my harrowing ordeal I have been through....I have been very sick and had a septic knee and I have been in the hospital in Aberdeen Scotland (while on vacation)......unbelievable for me but I am finally well enough to sit up for awhile and hopefully tell my story. I am glad to see your cute face finally

  31. A wonderful idea, to just find the balance with blogging. That's what I need to do. Before I was working full-time, I know blogging took up a significant portion of my time. Now I have no choice but to spend less time blogging. But this is a good thing... I've had books I wanted to read which I am finally getting to (Joe Camp, Mark Rashid, etc.), outside jobs which need done before winter, etc. I'll just have to remember to keep a nice balance between blogging and all the other things I want to do in my life! :) Thanks for putting it so eloquently.

  32. Well, since I am a member of this family you speak so highly of, I couldn't agree with your analysis more:) That freezer jam looks delicious.

  33. I really enjoyed my blogcation. I had a "never miss a single day" policy going on for about a year and a half. Felt really good to just go to bed because I wanted to.

I would had for you to disappear. Thanks for sharing your life w/ us.
