I'm not sure if I've ever mentioned this, but when I was a child our family briefly had two turkeys. Mine was named "Salt" (he was white) and Paint Girl's turkey was Pepper (he was black.)
So I thought. The picture I drew when I was younger says that my turkey's name was "Wobbly." In the scrap book, I had taped in real feathers from Wobbly and Pepper.
By the way, those turkeys did not end up on our table. I don't think I could ever own a chicken or turkey, then end up eating it.
I probably wouldn't make a very good farmer.
I hope you are all enjoying this Thanksgiving holiday!

ReplyDeleteI am THANKFUL for HORSES!!!!
Great Blog! We don't have any turkeys, yet, only chickens, ducks and a pair of geese named Brian and Marsha Wu. The first names are for the people who gave them to us. The last name is because they are Chinese geese. We also have horses, cattle, goats, many cats and dogs. We train horses in the ways of Brannaman, Parelli, and others with similar methods. I recently bought a troubled, now three year old Quarter Horse from famous cutting horse lineage that I really don't need except for the challenge... Anyway, I just wrote a book, an historical novel about the open range ranching days in Montana in the 1880s. I am having a drawing to give away five books to people who contact me. I would be honored if you would check out my blog and the details about my book giveaway. If you're interested put your name in the hat! This invitation is open to all your readers also. Once again I am happy to have stumbled upon your blog.

It's so fun to look back at the stuff we did as kids. Gotta be thankful to the parent that managed to hang onto that stuff. Hope you had a very happy Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteSo if they didn't end up on the table, where did they end up?
ReplyDelete{Leah}~ Well, I can't remember exactly, I'll have to check with my parents, but I think they had a meeting with the neighbor dogs, and it didn't have a happy ending. :(
ReplyDeleteGreat mementos! I love the drawing. Hope you and your family had a wonderful holiday.
ReplyDeleteExcellent! I love your photos and how everyone can kind of relate to your experiences. I love reading your blogs!
