Change is In The Air
Maybe it's the way the sun sets differently in the sky.
Maybe it's the fact that my Nana had two boxes of green apples on her porch. Several of which she made homemade applesauce with. Several of which my loveleigh cousin Sares used in merchandising our garage sale items this weekend.
Maybe it's the pine cones, falling to the ground from the trees behind my cousin E's house. Thanks cousin E, for letting me pick up a garbage bag full!
Maybe it's the school kids, going back, or getting ready to go back, to school. {Sorry, no pictures of school kids for you, how about some brown grass in a field, growing over an old fence? i think perhaps even this grass has grown weary of the summer sun.}
And it's not a maybe on this one- my horse is already starting to get that longer, rougher, winter coat. I swear he just finished shedding last year's!
Whatever it is, things are changing. And I couldn't be happier that fall is around the corner- its my favorite season.

We had a weekend of cooler temps, but Texans know that first taste is just a trick. We'll get slammed again with at least one more bouts of hot weather.
ReplyDeleteI thought I detected a thickening of the hair on Pokey's belly yesterday, too.
How is the sarcoid?
Beautiful photos! Fall is usually my favorite season but this summer just wasn't that summery so I'm not ready to see it go.
ReplyDeleteI like fall with it's warm days and chilly nights but I wish summer wasn't over yet.
ReplyDeleteI agree. I noticed when I left the house this morning it was a bit darker than Friday. I love fall also, but I hate going to work in the dark and it won't be long until that happens. But I will enjoy this nice cool weather while it lasts.
ReplyDeleteGood pictures by the way.
I love fall! I like spring and summer a lot, but every time fall comes, I get so happy! I love your beautiful photos, great captures!
ReplyDeleteI just LOVE the way you stage your pictures! Beautiful... I just sit and look...You may have missed your calling! But then, I know you are good at what you do too.
ReplyDeleteFall is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIt's my favorite season, too. But today AUGUST 31 in NEBRASKA it was 43 degrees this morning. Unheard. Of. But I'm lovin' it.
ReplyDeleteAlso heard the weather geeks are expecting a mild winter. I'm hoping for ONCE they are right!
I love the crisp mornings and warm days that autumn brings , a little sad to see the end of summer , but the fall can be beautiful.Beautiful photos!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely "something in the air"...if we could pause right here at the end of summer/beginning of fall I would be one happy camper. I am trying to soak up this late August golden sun that we are getting. I absolutely love it. Sunflowers growing, golden rays on a field of tall grass...can't beat it. Totally starting to notice the beginning of the end of my smooth summer horse. Soon, he'll be a yak/Arab. ;) I'm always sad to bid summer adieu, but I am looking forward to fall. Love your pics as always!! :)
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for fall! Great pictures, I always love looking at your photographs, you inspire me to take better ones. Did you do another new header? Or is it my imagination!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures as usual!!!
ReplyDeleteI love fall too. It is my favorite season. It could stay that way all the time for me. xoxo
I've never liked leaving summer! Ever! I thought as an adult I would outgrow it, but I stubbornly cling to summer like a desperate barnacle. I do not want it to go! I love it too much! then again, our summer this year has been so cold and wet, that the Autumn is bound to be nicer! Maybe I am just resistant to change!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a good school year and don't get any smart alecky students!!!
Gorgeous photographs and commentary! I am looking forward to fall as are all the critters on the farm. Lovely entry.
ReplyDeleteFall is the season of so much change, the colors, the air! Also a time when the PONY's can start kicking up their heels and feeling "frisky". Everyone make sure to turn your horse out to buck and fart before you ride...or you may get that busting out energy on your ride!LOL
ReplyDelete{Sares}~ yes it's a new header, or at least I changed out my pictures, last week. I designed this one so I can just switch the pictures now and then! :)
ReplyDelete{Leah}~ the sarcoid hasn't changed over the summer. It's a bald spot, maybe a scar, the hair hasn't completely grown back. I put sunscreen on it. I am still worried about it. But until it changes again, I'm not messing with it!
I too had to admit to myself that fall is coming. There was a briskness this morning for my run that hasn't been there before, the shadows on my porch from the rising sun are different. I'm glad. I love summer, but I'm getting restless, I'm ready for a change.
ReplyDeleteFall is my favorite, too. And it is happening -- I saw some leaves turning colors on a tree outside y kitchen window....
ReplyDeleteI enjoy all the seasons, and around here we really get them all! Frigid winters, hot summers, and true spring and fall. But I have to say that fall is my favourite :)
ReplyDeleteLovely fall hues. As with anything in autumn it is all so bittersweet. Happy for the cooler temperatures - sad to realize that the cold is coming. Good luck with your coming school year. I love the new header photos!
ReplyDeleteLove the pictures!! Are you still using your Nikon D40? What do you think of the camera? Any major pros or cons?
ReplyDeleteit just saddens me that our summer will end so soon, I need 2 more months!
ReplyDeleteAs always.. great pictures
{Nikki}~ Yes, still using the Nikon D40 (except that picture with the pail of apples, that was taken with my point and shoot.) I still have a lot to learn, mostly just shooting programmed automatic these days, too much going on to really figure it out and I probably should take a class at some point....
ReplyDeleteYour photos, as always are beautiful. My fave, of course is My Boy. He is so handsome!
ReplyDeleteSummer is my favorite season here in the mountains. Fall and Spring at 7,000 ft means the possibility of snow. Sooooo, not ready for that again.
~Lisa
I prefer summer. But fall is ok too. I don't mind the cold mornings and the leaves falling. I can sit on my couch and watch football with a fire in the woodstove....
ReplyDeleteLove that picture of Rosey dog!!
Yes Amen to Fall!!! I love the Fall!! Makes such beautiful scenery!! I can't wait to see how your area looks during the Fall, I'm sure you'll take some pictures to show us right?!?!
ReplyDeleteYou and that camera make beautiful music together! Love these.
ReplyDeleteThat is Gus, right? When I just looked again, I was less sure.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful photos. The changes here are much more subtle and I think the color is actually behind last year's perhaps because we've had no rain but the beautiful cool nights have been wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI was so excited to see your pictures. Fall is my favorite time of year.
I love the fall, and love the way you describe it here.
ReplyDeleteYes the days are getting shorter. My little herd is now shedding their short summer coats.
ReplyDeleteLook at Your Boy's round belly in that last picture. Such a happy boy!! And girl, i am loving your sun glare picture. I have such sun glare envy. I suck at it and want to know how to do it. Sigh.....any pointers?
ReplyDeleteIt's still 89 degrees here. I wish a little fall would roll in. beautiful shots!!
Fall is the best time for a ride...less FLIES! Wishing you miles of beautiful trails!!!
ReplyDeleteJen
never much liked change...but fall is beautiful as your great pictures depict. I love the chill in the air at night, the colors of the falling leaves, and riding during the fall is the best!..although it does make me a little melocholy for things that are done and gone.
ReplyDelete{Andrea}~ We literally had great lighting that night, coming through the trees. It was kind of spooky. I just snapped pictures right into the setting sun. I didn't know what I had until I downloaded them. But I liked them, the silhouette of my parents' dog Rosie was pretty neat! :)
