What I'm Loving this Fall

Fall is a time of year that makes you want to cozy up, reflect the season, and reinvent yourself. Here are some things I am loving (or coveting....) for autumn.......

Branches. I can not stop picking up fallen branches and twigs and putting them in vases and jars!

It brings in a simple, bare, elemental look into my house, which I am loving better than any synthetic fall garland I could buy at the craft store. I love the glow of this old brown/orange bottle.

Don't you just love fall fashion? Jeans, knit scarves, warm cozy sweaters, and furry leather boots!

I also found a pair of similar gloves at Urban Outfitters. I got mine in gray, or "sonnet", as they call it.

I found this necklace, in a peachy/cream color (not the gold one pictured), on clearance at the local Anthro store! I can't wait to wear it, even with a simple t-shirt and jeans!

Tokyo Milk Honey and The Moon parfum
{available at many places, including Anthropologie, and Amazon.com}

"Sweet honey, sugared violets, jasmine, and sandalwood?" YUM!

Flameless candles!! I got mine at an outlet store. They are made of wax and smell like vanilla. Goodness, I love just turning them on with a switch! No fear of flames or those spastic, smoking wicks!

We first used flameless candles on our horse ranch trip in August, every night at the dinner table. They were a safe way to add ambiance on a dry pine ranch. Hint: I recommend checking the flame flicker. The first set of candles I bought had such a strong and unnatural looking flicker that it almost gave me a migraine headache. The ones I got have 3 tiny bulbs, not one big one.

More fall loves to be continued in a future post..... (because fall is my favorite season!)

  2. I love the pictures! I removed my first post! I spelled a bunch of words wrong. How sily! I love the candle idea. Much safer with cats wandering around. I always worry about their tail catching of fire!Like the header change. Fall is my fav' season too!

  4. {Dusy Devoe}~ Mom, you are so "sily," you still had a typo in your second comment, LOL! xo My friend just told me about her kitten getting it's whiskers singed in a candle! :(

{Jan's Place}~ Oh gosh, I think I got the candles at an outlet store called Ross, or perhaps Marshalls? I don't recall, I am in them all a lot!

  5. I love that orange jar! What a great idea! I've been looking for something for the center of my table!

I have flame blowers so I may need to check out those flameless candles!

  6. Love the new header pics too PG. I'm heading to Nana's to tear some little branches off her hedges soon for some fall decorating. I'll have to steal them from the back side! Those candles are very neat. I always worry about blowing them out-blowing a spark out somewhere. The only place we do candles now is on the stove-dog/man proof. I have a sugar cookie one I LOVE I got at Michaels I've been using, it makes the whole house smell delicious. I hope we'll see you next weekend!

  7. Love your idea re: the branches. I just did my fall arrangement on the deck at our back door - some mums, pansies, pumpkin, etc. I think I want some tall grass to put behind the pots, propped against the house. Tomorrow...

Anthro, huh? You're the first person I've seen mention that store in a blog. My sister is one of their biggest benefactors (seriously). She loves that store - she has a closet full of Anthro clothes. We both love their Capri Blue Volcano candles; what a wonderful fragrance!

  8. Love branches in jars! They look good anywhere. I have branches all over my house as permanent fixtures. Corkscrew Willow are my fav. Those fingerless gloves are super cute. Every fall I say I'm gonna treat myself to a fall shopping spree (at least a mini one)...I LOVE fall clothes, but my current wardrobe definitely needs a pick me up. Prob. won't be happening this year though. But I think I am gonna check out those gloves!

  9. I should check out those flame less candles, with cats and dogs, but I usually put my candles where the cats and dogs don't go, so haven't had any mishaps.
At least you didn't put any fall spider pictures up here. Thank you!

  10. I love the Indian Summer part of fall, makes for great riding weather except that nurse Desert Rose will probably not get much time in the saddle for the next 2 or 3 weeks!!!

  11. In our country, we only have 2 seasons, and fall is not one of them. But I sure would like to experience fall some time. The pics were great. Love the gloves and the twigs! They look so nice.

  16. Great post - except you're giving me shopping fever!! I am in love with those fingerless gloves! So cute! I also like the idea of the branch arrangements. I might have to start rounding up some clever recycled vases... I love your eye for creativity.

  19. Great fall ideas and photos!!! The candles seem like a great solution to a perennial worry about fire. You are right about the beauty of found nature for house decorating - way better than store-bought.

  20. I love fall too! And I have some of those flameless candles. I need to put some batteries in them and see how wonderful they are! I can't wait for some cooler weather! I love those fall colors and I really miss seeing them being down here. We don't get much of a fall.

  21. Pony Girl! Sometimes when I read your blog, you remind me so much of some of my friends here. You have some very New Englandy sensitivities! I'll bet if you were to move here, you would find yourself fitting right in!!! I loved your pictures, especially the very first one of the leaf. I actually do not like Fall at all. I never have. But then I see a leaf like that and I think, What's my problem?

  22. {Colleen}~ The problem is you are getting too much rain, and not enough sunshine and leafy-crispness, LOL! I think I might like the east too, other than NYC, I've never been over there! Would love to do the New England fall tour sometime.....
